Steps:
  1. Join the Merchants Association (optional)
  2. Check if you are in the Mays Landing Historic District  
  3. Fill out the Business Registration Application  for the Township
  4. Check with building and zoning codes for your location
  5. Register you business with the County is always a good idea as well 
  6. Attend monthly members meetings to make friends and become part of the MLMA business community (optional but recommended)

Attend the Mays Landing Merchants Association monthly meetings.

help you with advice, direction, and some just  good old common sense.  
Township of Hamilton is a large area and encompasses 113 square miles.  It is located in the heart of South Jersey.  Mays Landing  is the center and the county seat of Atlantic County, other parts of the township include: Bears Head, Carmantown, Catawba, Clarktown, Cologne, Dacosta, Emmelsville, Gravelly Run, Lake Lenape, Laureldale, McKee City, Mizpah, Reega, Thompsontown, Weymouth and Wilsons Landing (sourced wikipedia)
